Diamond clarity classification

Classification at 10-fold magnification:

  • IF – internally flawless – perfectly clear without any inclusions
  • VVS1-2 – very-very small inclusions – very difficult to recognize at 10 X magnification
  • VS1-2 – very small inclusions – difficult to recognize at 10 X magnification
  • SI1-2 – small inclusions – easy to recognize at 10 X magnification
  • P1 – Piqué 1 – large, striking inclusions
  • P2 – Piqué 2 – serious blemish(es) diminishing brilliance
  • P3 – Piqué 3 – very serious blemish(es) recognizable with the naked eye, eclipses the brilliance of the gemstone.
